2018 & 2019. digital.

in july 2018, i hiked into an active logging area with my brother (who was looking for a sooty grouse), and left this dollhouse behind in an area of new growth. it had been in the trunk of my car for over a year—i’d been ready to let it go but hadn’t found the right resting place. i was overworked in my life running a youth org, and had felt distant from my artistic practice, so this became an act of release. hiking while carrying this fragile, sacred object and leaving it amidst baby trees felt both heavy and freeing. distant and close.

the first set of four images are from that day, and the second are from April 2019, when i revisited the site to document the house’s deterioration.
